“Living easy, living free
Season ticket on a one-way ride
Asking nothing, leave me be
Taking everything in my stride
Don't need reason, don't need rhyme
Ain't nothing I would rather do
Going down, party time
My friends are gonna be there too
I'm on the highway to hell
No stop signs, speed limit
Nobody's gonna slow me down”
Name: Dean Winchester
Nicknames: Dean, ‘idjit’
Aliases: Well, given that they’re fake authority names, it’d probably be best to keep them a secret. Who knows what other overzealous FBI guy might be looking for him…
Age: 29
Classification: Hunter
Orientation: Straight
Affiliations: Good
Occupation: Professional Hunter, sometime card shark, pool rustler, and con artist.
PB Claim: Jensen Ackles
Personal Description: Given that he lives the life of a professional monster-killer, it’s safe to say that he’s muscled enough to hold his own in a fight, while having just the right amount of lean to play up a bad boy act. He carries himself like he doesn't have a care in the world, but he's always looking around...and those bulges? Oh yeah, he's happy to see you, but it's also probably the result of one or two hidden weapons hidden about his person. He also has a few tattoo's; mostly warding tats and Latin sigils.
Personality: Outwardly, Dean is a tough-as-nails hunter who would rather shoot the monsters he hunts until they’re dead, then shoot them some more just to make sure, and THEN go and find out if they were really so bad. He takes his job as a hunter, as a protector of the innocent- ha, try ‘ignorant’- wide world very seriously, and would probably react quite badly if one were to insinuate otherwise. He’s cool headed- when his brother isn't involved, that is- he’s good looking- if he does say so himself- and plays a mean game of poker when the funds start to get low. He also prides himself on his ability to take things in stride and is known for his biting sarcasm.
At the same time, however, there is also a softer side to the hunter lurking somewhere deep and far behind the walls that he erects around himself. As if a guy really needs to ‘get in touch with his feelings.’ What was he? A chick? Some little whiner-baby who’d go running to the nearest shoulder so he can have a good cry? Ha, not really; though he heard there was a little old lady down the street who was looking for some squishy feelings. But, though he really does try to hide it, there is a side of the man that is terrified of the future, haunted by the things he’d done and constantly wondering if his current path is the right one.
Personal Style: Think a two year old with his special blanket would throw a fit if the thing was ever taken away? Try getting Dean out of his signature leather jacket, comfortable boots and the gold medallion he’d gotten from his little brother once upon a Christmas carol and see what happens.
Personality Quirks: If there's one thing that Dean really can't seem to do unless prodded incessantly by his brother- or faced with the 'Sad Kitty Face,' as he likes to call it- is hold a serious conversation for too long. As he's not a fan of sharing his feelings, he's more liable to run away screaming than actually talk about what's going on in his head.
History:
Over-simplified, for the sake of not having peeps read a novel. All information comes from the Winchester-Journals.net
Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Dean who loved his parents. Growing up in a quiet suburb, he did what all little boys do; he played with his friends, went to school, was forced to eat green vegetables and be nice to his baby brother. He had a mother and a father who loved and protected him, had a life that was blissfully normal…
And was, in the end, Fate’s whipping boy. Oh, how a guy had to love having the sweet peace of normalcy taken away by some freak with funky cataracts. Hadn't anyone ever told him not to eat the yellow snowcones? Obviously not.
As the well known story goes, the Winchester family was struck by tragedy when Mary, Dean’s mother, was killed by the notorious ‘Yellow Eyed Demon’ in exchange for a bargain made years before he was born. This incident would become the turning point of his life, and create a black hole through which any semblance of a childhood would be sucked into.
From the day that his mother was brutally killed in a fire and his father John, an ex-Marine, found out that the world really did have a living darkness attached to it, fighting has been life’s greatest lesson. How to kill, how to protect the people he loves, and how to rid the world of the stain that is the unnatural beings of the world.
For most of his adolescent life, Dean and his brother, Sam, were carted off from state to state, as their father joined the ranks of the Hunters, in pursuit of the demon that killed his wife. He learned many things along this road; how to fight, the ins and outs of the various monsters of the world, how to gamble and steal…
And how loyal he was to his family. So, talk about a bad patch when his father and brother started locking horns, resulting in Sam’s exile to the mysterious land of Yale Law. For a few years after the break, Dean continued hunting with his father, or on his own when the man pulled an ex-Marine and disappeared into thin air, to fight his own battles.
It took a few missed phone calls and a solid month of no contact to get Dean to accept that maybe, just maybe, Dad might be in over his head, and instigated the tearful reunion of two long-lost brothers.
Well. If ‘tearful’ included some ass whupping and arm bending. But hey, what are brothers for?
The next few years of Dean’s life revolved around hunting monsters and, ultimately, the Yellow Eyed demon, with his brother at his side. And life was pretty good on the ‘saving the world one ignorant boob at a time’ front, until the hellspawn upped the ante by taking John’s soul. The crusade then went full ‘KILL, KILL’ throttle against the demon, resulting in more than a few doubts directed at his brother, who was supposedly tainted by, you guessed it, demon’s blood. In the end, good triumphed over evil, the Yellow Eyed demon was killed by the ever-handy colt, and John’s spirit was released from Hell.
One would think that a guy could get a bit of a breather, right? Ha. If only life were that damn simple. Cue Sam getting his butt corpse-ified, and Dean trading his soul to a Crossroads Demon in order to bring him back. Oh, hoorah, as if life was already boring.
With only a year to keep his soul out of the Pit, Dean and Sam raced to find a way to release him from his deal, but the demon in question holding his contract was, unfortunately for him, Lilith, who became a major player in the drama that is his life. The year passed, and Dean went to hell.
Move over, Jason, a Winchester was coming to town. Now, if only it were a place filled with cold Jack, beef burritos and Miss America contestants.
Oh no, of course not. Instead of being catered to by beautiful women, Dean just had to become Alastair’s- one of Hell’s most sadistic freaks- bitch. Knowing that the worst punishment for a Hunter, a protector, was to hurt others, the crazy mofo tortured Dean until he lost his will to withstand, and became one of the demon’s favorite torturers. It was a title that the evil guy would learn to regret, but it haunts the hunter to this day.
And thus the Breaking of the Seals began, lighting a metaphorical fire under the battle between Heaven and Earth. As if things weren’t bad enough already.
In order to add to Heaven’s chances of defeating Lucifer, an angel named Castiel pulled Dean out of Hell in order to prevent the end of the world. Call him Arnold and stick some morning shadow on his face.
The fight went on, with Sam and Dean reunited once again, with the very unhappy addition of a ‘good’ demon named Ruby. Talk about a snarky, annoying biotch of the first order, and proved to be more than a small thorn in his side, as she attempted to woo Sam to the Dark Side. And Vadar-ette pretty much succeeded; convincing his brother that his ‘powers’ could be used for good, and that killing Lilith was a good idea.
Thus leading to the release of Lucifer. Oh, whoop-dee-doo, another problem to take care of. Having started the entire process himself when he turned to torturing down in Hell, Dean felt responsible for the impending Armageddon, and his guilt, added to his brother’s betrayal, caused each to take their separate paths.
Which lasted all of a year, but still. Blood is blood, and in the end, Dean has been trying to learn how to trust his brother again. Life went back to a semi-normal routine, killing the monsters and saving innocents, with the added bonus of having certain Major Players in Heaven and Hell want to play puppet master with their bodies.
Currently, Dean has been hanging around New Orleans, a hotspot of supernatural activity, taking care of as many of the nasties of the world as he can. It’s all in a day’s work, folks.
